Old friends (Disco Elysium characters)

I had the honor of concepting two of my favourite characters from Disco Elysium - Rene and Gaston. Both written by Argo Tuulik. I got to do their portraits and everything! AD Rostov tuned them up a bit before they went into the game.

The main challenge for me was to convey the contrast of these two characters. Gaston’s design wasn’t that hard, but the portrait took forever. Rene’s outfit went through a series of sketches before settling on this one - inspired by the puffy chests of city pigeons. His portrait is one of my favourite portraits I’ve ever painted.
